Race On It wasn't very long before the runners were off and charging up the last furlong of the course which is the distance of this race.
It was a fairly even break but soon three broke away from the rest of the pack.

A few hundred yards further and there was a clear leader in Spytty the Dog. He ran clear of the others and came in first closely followed by Jack the Slip who was the sponsors Mascot. Coming a close third was Bartley the Bluebird.

Dyffrig is very slow After the first three had crossed the line a look way down the course revealed that Dyffrig the Dragon was in big trouble having problems with the course and his feet.
However he did eventually finish and after photographs the runners left the course.

Third Place Third place went to the Cardiff city mascot Bartley the Bluebird.
Second place went to the Mascot who was representing the sponsors Jack Brown Bookmakers. "Jack the Slip"

The Winner The winner of this event was the very impressive Spytty the Dog who is the mascot of Newport County FC.
This was a fine event that was held on a warm and sunny July day, and money was raised for the NSPCC.
