The Caribbean Night held at Chepstow racecourse is a very enjoyable night for both regular race goers and also people who are less interested in the racing.
There is entertainment supplied by a steel band and the old parade ring is home to other refreshment places. On this particular light there was a Caribbean barbeque and also The Grolch Bar, The Strongbow Marquee and The Pimms Enclosure.
The atmosphere was very good indeed and everyone who attended had a good time in the fine summer sunshine.
The date of this event was the 26th of July 2002.

The Tropical Islanders were the steel band that we present on the evening. They were in fine form playing many tunes in a tropical style.

The Parade Ring Village was a great attraction in the summer sunshine and was a favourite venue all evening.

In the parade village there was a Caribbean Barbeque.

Many of the race goers got right into the mood of the night by dressing up in Caribbean costumes.

There was a competition held on the night and the first of the prises was for the most outrageous shirt. The prize was a bottle of Barcardi and two members badges for Chepstow for the rest of the year.

The main prize was for the winner of The Best Outfit and the winner won a bottle of Malibu and two members badges for the rest of the year.

The racing in the evening although not of the highest quality was quite competitive and was covered by the "At The Races" team. |
