1st Jocks Cross
Jocks Cross, like last years winner Edmond improved his jumping to win this his biggest prize yet. He jumped very well today to win this race.
It was a good turning around of the form of his last race where he was 3 and a half lengths behind Moral Support, who was easing down and it could have been 10 lengths, however the 5 furlongs further and the fact that he was also 1lb better off with him. Jocks Cross improved today and was a worthy winner.
Jocks Cross always saves his best for this track and won a 10,000 pounds event here in March. He is also a winner of a valuable race at the Punchestown festival in 1999.
He was a very worthy winner today and may have a little more to come in the future especially if you consider that he runs better in the spring than he does in the winter, but hold the bets on the Grand National as the owner is not keen to see this horse attempt the Aintree fences
and that is very sensible given the worry of the jumping, however the big prize at Aintree might be irresistible if he wins another big race.

Venetia Williams
Venetia Williams: Has taken over the mantle of being the finest female trainer we have in this country.
She has the ability not only to train horses but also place them with foresight. It was good to see that she put up a claimer to ride this horse rather that try to
get an outside jockey to ride.
She also has one of the best jockeys in the country in Norman Williamson riding as her first jockey.
It goes without saying that she will go on training winners of big races and also will have respect shown for any horse she enters in any race.
Venetia Williams trains in Hereford.

B.J.Crowley
Brian Crowley rode this horse today to perfection; He obviously gets on very well with this horse as he rode the horse very well in The Tote John Hughes earlier in the month.
This was his second success of the day as he won on another Venetia Williams horse earlier in the day.
Sure to make up as a good jockey when he loses his claim.

2nd Moral Support
This was first defeat this season for Moral Support and this was a very fine effort from this horse who is technically a novice, but who is running in his second season as a chaser.
The horse ran very well throughout the race and took up the running at the same place he did four weeks ago at this course, however today he just found one too good.
He is still a young horse and may still have improvement and should win again.
|
C.Mann
Charlie Man is a good trainer who has turned around the fortunes of Moral Support. It was to his credit today that he made no excuses for the horse.
He produced this horse with all the credentials to win this race today and had 20 winners last season and is sure to see more success with his horses this year.
|
A.Dobbin
Tony Dobbin is one of the finest national hunt jockeys we have in this country.
He finished 5th in the jockeys table last year with 72 winners and a level state on him would have won you more money than any in the top ten of jockeys.
He also has won the Grand National of course on Lord Gyllene.
He had to substitute for this horses regular jockey today and gave the horse every chance and produced the horse with perfection.

3rd Edmond
Last year's winner Edmond again ran well to finish 3rd today.
He did little wrong but did not really improve enough on his two previous runs this season.
He seemed to have everything in his favour again this year but although he has been performing well has not quite reproduced last year's form.
This year this in this race and in his prep race he was just not allowed to dominate the race and on a course which favours front runners he was unable to get away from the field, that said he still ran with credit and
did improve on his previous too runs, it will not be long before he wins again as he looks too good a horse to go through a season without picking up a good prize.
|
Henry Daly
Henry Daly is a top trainer who's stable has not quite his form yet this season but his horses are starting to improve.
He trained 38 winners last year and even though he is off to a slightly poorer start this season when he gets into a run will again start to get the winners he deserves.
|
Richard Johnson
Richard Johnson is an absolutely top jockey, he finished second in the jockeys table last year with 143 winners to his name.
He gave Edmond another good ride today but just found a few too good.
Another who will find plenty of winners this year.

4th Ambleside
This horse is fast becoming one of my favourite horses.
He ran very well today in the race today and that is not surprising, he is a very genuine horse who may not win very often but always runs well and
he makes the frame more times than he finishes out of the frame.
Again today he ran very well and found that the first three were just too good but he will win a good race again soon .
He is something of a Chepstow Specialist but also likes Wincanton.
I don't know if he is entered at Aintree but I would like to see him try as he ran with credit to finish 5th in last years Scottish National on ground far too firm for him.
Ambleside is not sure to win more races this year but you can rest assured that he will run his heart out for you if you bet him. I for one hope he wins a big prize for his connections soon.

Mrs S.D.Williams
Mrs Williams is not perhaps one of the top trainers in the country but she seems to do well with the horses that she has.
She produced this horse today as she always does with a shine on his coat and looking a sharp as always.
I'm sure that this horse will win a bit race soon.
Mrs Williams sent out 53 runners last season and had 8 winners and 15 placed horses from her training establishment in Devon.

R Farrant.
Rodney Farrant is one of our up and coming jockeys who after having a poor season by his standards last season with 5 wins, is really piling on the winners this year he has already won 30 times from 150 runs.
He picks up some good rides from the top trainers and if he is given more chances to ride the top horses he will soon be one of the top jockeys in the country.
